Introductionimg
It seems that the Rendlesham forest Incident was not the only UFO incident to occur while the USAF were at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge. In fact, numerous USAF personnel claim to have seen UFOs around the area. I will publish some of their accounts on this page, some from "Left At East Gate" and "You Can't Tell The People", and some which which have never been published anywhere else before.

If you served at either RAF Bentwaters or RAF Woodbridge and were witness to a UFO, please sent me an email. No hoaxers please, don't waste my time. You can email me here.

"I was stationed at RAF Woodbridge Summer of 1978 [to the] Summer of 1979. Early one morning around 0600 in the Winter months I was driving to work, I lived in Ipswich UK and was in the area near Martlesham Heath when I observed, coming from my left at tree top level, a large bright reddish-orange ball shaped object. I was going around a curve in the road and at first I thought it was the moon but I noticed it was moving rather fast; from my left to right. It disappeared behind a farm house, I was going around a hair pin shaped curve in the road, when I came out of the turn it was gone. It definitely was not a lighthouse or shooting star as it was traveling horizontally. I got to work and there were several guys standing around the coffee pot and I mentioned that I had seen the damndest thing and one of the guys there told me he had seen the same thing but he was traveling from a town on the other side of the base and saw it going from [the] right to left. He described the same thing as I saw. We never reported it. We were in the 67th Air Rescue Squadron there. I flew on helicopters for ten years as a crew member and this was no normal aircraft. I shipped out to Zaragoza Spain and read in Stars and Stripes about the Rendlesham forest incident. Several years ago after watching an episode of "Sightings", I called Col. Halt and explained my story to him, he was interested and said what I saw was similar to the later sightings, he was living in Woodbridge Va. at that time."

Thank you very much, James, for letting me publish your report.

Steve La Plume and Wendel Palmer

On the 17 January '81, Steve La Plume and Wendel Palmer were stationed at RAF Woodbrdige's East Gate. Palmer spoke to Steve, saying that "this must have been the place where they saw the UFO a few weeks back". A few minutes later Steve noticed a strange object fly across the sky at a very high speed, it started to move up and down, changing direction with almost impossible speed.

Steve checked with the control tower, who confirmed that there were only two aircraft up there, and none of them could possibly be responsible for the lights that he had just seen. Palmer contacted Central Security Control and spoke to Bruce England (who was obviously interested after his involvement with the famous Rendlesham case), he told them to stay where they were and wait for backup.

"Within 20 minutes I had more brass and people at my post than I had ever seen. There was the Deputy base commander Colonel Halt, an officers wife and a teenage boy. They had camera and I remember his wife saying something like 'Oh boy I hope we get to see one' Englund showed up and told me not to be nervous but Colonel Williams was on his way and he had just made me General. I was nervous. By the time they had all arrived, the UFO had gone", said Steve.

The UFO returned half an hour later, La Plume noticed that it had blue, red and green lights as it flew directly over him.

M. Fryman

While not a UFO report, I still found this report interesting because it involves another paranormal sighting in Rendlesham Forest and comes from a credible individua who served at RAF Bentwaters. Mr. Fryman served at Bentwaters between 1983-1986.

"It was a ball of see-through misty fog. no bigger than a soccer ball that rolled on the ground – not floating or hovering. Its boundary wasn’t misty; it was a distinct, tight form with a mist inside. It was just by mere chance I was taking a lone walk in the forest going by the Tangham House. I remember walking straight from Tangham Lane into that forest patch. It was a very nice summer’s early evening so I decided to take a walk and take in some scenery – clear skies, rather warm temperature and then there was that [the ball of fog]. I even stopped as if to give it the right-of-way it passed that close in front of me. It moved from right-to-left, then dissipated once past me. I didn’t think much of it until walking a few more yards and realized the weather conditions couldn’t have produced a fog ball. “Oh well…” I thought. I even dismissed it from memory until recently when I saw a TV show about the Rendlesham UFOs and it reminded me of that. I don’t know what it was other than what I can describe. The oddest part to me though was how fast it spun yet rolled slowly."

Thanks Mr. Fryman, for letting me use your report on this page.
